Steel Sheet Rotational Mold Made by WaveMolding Plastics

Many customers can be impressed by WaveMolding’s great aluminum mold tools, but actually you can have more options for your molds! Today we are going to introduce our steel sheet molds and show you what we used to build.

Q 1 : How is a steel mold made?

WaveMolding uses 2.5mm thickness  ST12 steel sheets to make steel molds. But if you need stainless steel mold, we can also meet your requirement. When we make steel molds, we will evaluate the mold structure to see how many stamping molds are needed because the accuracy is not good as the previous molds are made by pure manual, but stamping molds can improve it. The steel will be stamped into the shape accordingly and welded together. After welding, our workers will perfect the details and do the surface treatment, such as polishing and sandblasting. Of course, Teflon is also available.

Q 2 : Advantages of steel mold?

For the same shape Aluminum mold and steel mold, the latter need less heating time, which means the daily output is better. What’s more, the mold cost is also different. Steel mold is much cheaper than Aluminum mold. So if you are developing big-size containers, such as septic tanks, vertical water tanks, underground tanks, and fuel tanks, steel material is a better choice.

Q 3 : What should I pay attention to if using steel material?

The wall thickness of 2.5mm requires careful operation, and the later maintenance is usually what the steel mold needs to pay attention to.

If you do not use the mold temporarily, please brush it with anti-rust oil before placing it. Since the steel molds are prone to deformation, they should be checked regularly and fixed with wooden boards if necessary.
